History:  This house was owned by Reverend John Bracken, president of the College of William and Mary and rector of Bruton Parish. Bracken did not live in the house.
 
Structure:  This is a story and one-half, one-room deep house with a central entrance and hallway and a staircase in the hallway. The staircase space encroaches on the right room, making it smaller than the left one.
 
Chimneys:  The house has two exterior chimneys, set on the sides of the house.
